Speak the Language of the Market
I read an article this week that’s worth your time. The trade itself is interesting. What you do with it is what matters.
What Wall Street is betting on
In the options market, traders are buying far more calls than puts on long-term Treasuries, more than 3 to 1 in the biggest long-bond fund. That followed a 10-year Treasury auction that got a “bullet bid.”
In plain English, Wall Street is betting the odds now favor the 10-year yield coming down from here rather than going up.
That matters for obvious reasons: mortgage rates follow it.
The bigger point isn’t the trade
The bigger point is what happens when you can talk about this with your clients and realtor partners.
Think about your doctor. You trust them more when they speak in technical terms with precision and confidence.
You want your clients and realtors to feel that way about you.
You want to impress them with your words and level of sophistication in your field.
What Bloomberg Radio taught me
For the first 10 years of my career, I listened to Bloomberg Radio every morning. I heard speakers use the term asset diversification so often.
So when a client asked me about down payment options, I said:
“Let’s also look at 15% or 10% down. We want to think about your asset diversification.”
Conversations like that make you stand out. They build an attachment to you that goes beyond rate and price.
